Meet the members of the Warrensburg Theatre Arts board of directors.
Cindy Bechtol

Cindy has been a townie (for the most part) since 1981. She has been involved with Warrensburg Community Theatre for almost 10 years and has participated, both behind the scenes and on the stage, in every production here since. Theatre runs in the family, as her father is often running sound systems for various productions, and her mother volunteers backstage. Her husband acts in the troupe, and both of Cindy’s children grew up participating heavily. Her daughter is now a Theatre Arts teacher and her son is pursuing a degree in set design. After 16 years teaching middle school English, Reading and Technology, Cindy made the switch to High School Theatre and Speech and Debate. She currently teaches at the middle school and High School in Pleasant Hill, MO. As a founding member of Warrensburg Community Theatre non-profit, she is very happy to serve as President of the organization.
Joshua Detherage

Joshua Detherage was born and raised in Warrensburg, and a proud graduate of WHS. He has been in many productions throughout his career both on stage and directing. Joshua and Matthew were married in 2018, settling on their farm south of town with four children. He enjoys photography, classic cars, writing, and interior design as his hobbies. He has designed spaces throughout the Midwest and was chosen as a designer for the KC Symphony Show House. Joshua is an active member of the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce and serves as Chair Emeritus. He is a founding member of the Warrensburg Community Theater where he serves as the Vice President.
Laura Kennedy

Laura Kennedy retired after 29 years in education. As a high school and middle school English teacher and school counselor, she always had an interest in supporting musical theater school programs as well as local community theaters. She enjoys all parts of performing, both behind the scenes and on stage, and showcasing the local talent in our community. She was a cosponsor of the Middle School Talent Show for many years, and in 2023, was a director for Burnett and Friends. She is treasurer of the Warrensburg Community Theater.
Marsha Votaw

Marsha moved to Warrensburg in 1997. She is married to Jerrell, and they have 2 sons, Justin and Kevin. Marsha taught Reading at Warrensburg Middle School and retired in 2022.She is very involved in the community as she serves as the secretary for the Johnson County Master Gardeners. As a Master Gardener herself, Marsha helps maintain the 50 Hwy Garden, the Community Rose Garden, volunteers at the Farmer’s Market. She works with the after school children at Ridgeview School with the Eating from the Garden Program. She is a board member of the Warrensburg Community Theater. In 2023, she procured costumes, set pieces, and accessories for Burnett and Friends.
Victoria Wittmaier

Victoria moved to Warrensburg to attend UCM but fell in love with the community! She is a writing instructor at Warrensburg Middle School and at State Fair Community college. She is the sponsor of the WMS drama club and end of the year talent show. She has a theatrical history as a performer, producer, script writer, and talent scout. She has a performance background including the role of Honey in Bingo: The Winning Musical. Recently, she has taken on additional roles behind the scenes such as joining in writing scripts, producing, and scouting locations. She is a proud founding member of the Warrensburg Community Theatre and serves as secretary on the Board of Directors.
